Hawkins Scores Hat Trick On Record Setting Day For Women's Soccer

            Muskogee, Okla. – Erica Hawkins notched the 11th hat trick in women's soccer history this afternoon as Central Baptist College took on the Warriors of Bacone College. Hawkins was responsible for three of CBC (1-5)'s 12 goals in a 12-0 win over BC (0-6).

            Hawkins scored her goals in the 19th, 57th and 65th minutes to become the eighth player in program history to register a hat trick and the second in as many seasons (Bayleigh Williams, also vs. Bacone). CBC set a record for shots in a match with 56 and the 12 goals scored were the second most ever by the Mustangs (17, 9/7/13 vs. Stephens). Isabella Pietrangelo and Tigist Holmes both scored twice while Samara Hernandez, Jade Love, Ashley Hultquist, Bayleigh Williams and Jayme Selph all scored single goals while Holmes also posted three assists, becoming just the fifth player ever to do that, while Selph had a pair of assists and Jackie Cortez, Josie Gelsthorpe, Hultquist and Williams all had single assists.

            Pietrangelo got the goal fest started in the 11th minute on an assist from Holmes to make it 1-0. Hawkins added her first goal in the 19th minute on Selph's assist for a 2-0 lead. In the 31st minute, Williams converted a penalty kick to make it 3-0 and that was followed three minutes later by Pietrangelo's second goal on an assist from Jackie Cortez, and the Mustangs would lead 4-0 at halftime.

            In the second half, the flood gates opened, starting with Holmes' first goal inside the first minute of the half on the second assist from Selph. 11 minutes later, Hawkins registered her second goal on Holmes' second assistant and that was followed almost immediately by Selph's unassisted goal to make it 7-0. Hawkins' hat trick was the eighth goal of the match on Holmes' third assist and that was followed two minutes later by Love scoring on an assist by Williams to make it 9-0. Hultquist's goal came in the 70th minute to put the Mustangs into double digits and Holmes scored her second goal less than two minutes later on Gelsthorpe's assist to make it 11-0. Hernandez wrapped up the scoring in the 83rd minute on Hultquist's lone assist. Bailey Walerczyk got the win in net, making only one save in registering her first shutout of the season.
