#MustangsWin! #15 CBC Advances To Second Round of NAIA Tournament For Second Straight Season!

Langston, Okla. – Playing for the third straight season in the NAIA Opening Round presented by Ballogy, #15 Central Baptist College men's basketball, the #5 seed in the Naismith Bracket, took on the #12 seeded William Carey Crusaders tonight at C.F. Gayles Field House. #15 CBC (27-5) shot over 52 percent from the field and came back from a second half deficit to beat WCU (19-11) 97-82 and advance to the second round of the tournament for the second straight season.
Sage Borbon finished with 29 points and was one of four Mustangs in double figures as Jonas Carlisle chipped in with 22 and both Savaughn Smith and Devin Foster had 10. The Mustangs outshot the Crusaders 52 percent to 48 percent from the field and won the battle on the glass 40-28 while outscoring the Cursaders in the paint 42-26.

WCU made the first basket of the game before CBC went on an 8-0 run to lead 8-2 in the first 2:45. CBC would lead the rest of the half and take a 51-46 lead into the break. The teams traded the first three baskets of the second half before WCU took the lead 59-55 with 13:28 to play. CBC did not go away, however, keeping the Crusaders within arm's reach, tying the game four times before finally retaking a 73-70 lead with 7:03 left on an old fashioned three-point play by Smith. That play sparked an 8-2 run that CBC used to finish the game strong, outscoring the Crusaders 25-12 over the final 7:03 to seal the win.
