Pineville, La. – Opening the 2026 season a day earlier than originally scheduled, Central Baptist College softball was at the Louisiana Christian Invitational today at the Champion Sportsplex. CBC (1-1) split the first day, beating the hosts Louisiana Christian (0-1) 10-4 before dropping the second game against #13 LSU-Alexandria (2-0) 11-3 in five innings.
GAME ONE – CBC 10, LCU 4
The Mustangs score runs in the odd numbered innings to earn their first win ever against the Wildcats. Kori Truelove was 4-4 with two RBIs and Kinley Johnson was 3-4 with three RBIs to back Isabella Sawyers, who threw a complete game, striking out three. CBC took the lead in the first on back-to-back singles by Johnson and Truelove to make it 2-0. LCU scored in the bottom of the first and CBC put up three more runs in the third on a two-run single by Johnson and a groundout off the bat of Sydney Weiser. The Mustangs made it 8-1 in the fifth on a hit by pitch to Eden East, a fielder's choice off the bat of Taylyn Shuffield and an RBI single by Elizabeth Stoufer. The final two runs scored in the seventh on singles by Truelove and Tayler Southern.
GAME TWO - #13 LSU-A 11, CBC 3 (FIVE INNINGS)
The Mustangs jumped out early in game two, scoring twice in the first on a single and an error, followed by an RBI single by Truelove to make it 2-0 quickly. LSU-A cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first and tied the game in the second before CBC retook the lead in the third on a double by Truelove to make it 3-2. LSU then scored five in the third, two in the fourth and two in the fifth to put a bow on day one.
UP NEXT
CBC plays two more games tomorrow, beginning at noon. The Mustangs will play the Embry Riddle Aeronautical Eagles in a rematch of last year's first game in the San Antonio Opening Round at noon before ending the tournament against the Nelson Lions at 2 p.m.
