Pineville, La. – Looking to rebound after a split on day one of the Louisiana Christian Invitational, Central Baptist College softball played again this afternoon at the Champion Sportsplex against Embry-Riddle and Nelson. CBC (2-2) split again, dropping game one to ERAU (1-0) 8-5 before beating Nelson (0-3) 3-0 in the finale.
GAME THREE – ERAU 8, CBC 5
After two scoreless innings, the Eagles broke the deadlock with a home run in the third before CBC tied it in the bottom half on a fielder's choice off the bat of Kinley Johnson, making it 1-1 after three. ERAU added three in the top of the fourth to make it 4-1 before Elizabeth Stoufer singled home a run in the bottom half to make it 4-2 after four. ERAU would hit a solo home run in the fifth, a two-run shot in the sixth, and a solo home run in the seventh to make it 8-2 before Tayler Southern hit the first home run of the season for the Mustangs, a three-run blast to round out the scoring. Isabella Sawyers, Lauren Woodard and Emma Fenley combined on nine Ks in the contest.
GAME FOUR – CBC 3, NELSON 0
The final game was all about the performance of Ryleigh Keele. Keele not only pitched a three-hit shutout while striking out six, she was also 3-3 at the plate with a run scored. The Mustangs scored on a Kinley Johnson single in the third, a Kori Truelove sac fly in the fifth and a groundout by Taylyn Shuffield in the seventh. Keele allowed only six baserunners all game and only allowed two runners to reach second base the entire outing.
