Mustangs Drop First Two To Cougars

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Columbia, Mo. – Traveling out of state for the first time in two weeks, Central Baptist College baseball was at Cougar Field this afternoon for an American Midwest Conference doubleheader against Columbia College. CBC (26-11, 9-5 AMC) only mustered one run in the two games against CC (31-10, 14-0 AMC), falling 4-0 and 5-1.

GAME ONE – COLUMBIA 4, CBC 0

Columbia scored single runs in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings while CBC got five hits, including Ryan Dauphinee's 17th double of the season. Jackson Pope went the distance, scattering 10 hits and allowing four runs (three earned) with two strikeouts.

GAME TWO – COLUMBIA 5, CBC 1

All the runs in game two were scored in the first four innings. Cade McBride gave CBC a lead in the first after he scored on an error to make it 1-0. The lead was short-lived, however, as Columbia tied the game in the first at one. The Cougars would add one in the third and three in the fourth, but couldn't crack reliever Rhett James, who ran his scoreless innings streak to 10 straight, allowing just three hits while striking out one in a four inning outing, which followed his six shutout innings against Champion Christian on April 4.
