Springfield, Mo. – Stepping out of NAIA play this afternoon, Central Baptist College men's soccer took on the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist University today at the SBU Soccer Field. CBC (2-5) nearly forced a draw as they went into the locker room at the half knotted at zero before a late penalty kick gave the win to SBU (1-1) 1-0.
The penalty kick was given with less than one minute left in the match and it spoiled a great effort in net by Jasper Gadellaa, who made six saves for the second consecutive match. Hugh McAuley was able to breakthrough and challenge the SBU keeper twice, but unfortunately, both shots were turned away.
CBC takes on another NCAA Division II opponent in their next match on Friday afternoon when they head to Memphis for a tilt against Christian Brothers University. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
