Cabral Places Third At Viking Open

Poteau, Okla. – Competing for the second time in as many weeks, Central Baptist College wrestling was on the mat today at the Viking Open, hosted by Carl Albert State. Isaiah Hendrix and Mason Nguyen both wrestled at 149 pounds while Tyler Cabral wrestled in the 157-pound class.
Hendrix went 1-2 on the day with an overtime win in his first match followed by a pair of defeats. Nguyen went 0-2 in his matches while Cabral was able to go 5-1 and capture third place at 157. He defeated his first opponent by a 15-0 technical fall before losing his second match. He then reeled off four straight in the consolation bracket, winning the first two by technical fall scores of 19-4 and 22-5 (a record for points in a tech fall) before scoring a win by a 10-4 decision in the semifinal and a win by injury default in the third place match.
The Mustangs return to the mat next week in Denton, Texas, for the Mean Green Fall Brawl, hosted by the University of North Texas.
