Mustangs Drop Doubleheader to Stillman

            Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Diverting from their originally scheduled trip to Branson, Mo., Central Baptist College softball took on Stillman College this afternoon in a doubleheader at the Stillman Softball Complex. CBC (3-11) was swept in the doubleheader by SC (7-5) dropping game one 9-8 in a walkoff before falling 10-3 in game two.

GAME ONE – STILLMAN 9, CBC 8

            CBC got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first on the seventh home run of the season by Kinley Johnson. The lead extended to 3-0 in the second on an error and stretched to 5-0 in the third on a passed ball and an RBI single by Elizabeth Stoufer. CBC wouldn't hold the lead, however, as the Tigers plated six in the third and one in the fourth to lead 7-5 after four. The Mustangs charged back, however, retaking the lead in the sixth on a Johnson single, a bases loaded walk to Stoufer and a single by Taviah Bradley to make it 8-7. The Mustangs would drop the contest with two outs in the seventh to end the game in heartbreaking fashion.

GAME TWO – STILLMAN 10, CBC 3

            The Tigers went up quickly in game two, scoring three in the first to lead 3-0 after one. The Mustangs chipped into the lead in the third, making it 3-2 after a single by Johnson and a sac fly by Abi West. Five in third and one in the fifth put Stillman ahead 9-2 before a fielder's choice off the bat of Taylyn Shuffield plated Stoufer to make it 9-3. Stillman would score on an error in the seventh to round out the scoring.

UP NEXT

            CBC wraps up their trip to Tuscaloosa with two more games tomorrow. The Mustangs will play the United States Sports Academy at 11 a.m. before playing the final game of the trip against Stillman right after.
