Columbia, Mo. – Looking to end their road trip on a high note, Central Baptist College softball took on the Stephens Stars in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader at American Legion Field. CBC (22-20, 11-5 AMC) split the doubleheader with SC (13-17, 7-5 AMC) winning game one 11-1 in six before dropping game two 8-7.

GAME ONE – CBC 11, STEPHENS 1 (SIX INNINGS)

Both teams went three innings without scoring. Abi West put CBC on the scoreboard in the fourth with an RBI single to score Kori Truelove and put them ahead 1-0. Baylie Ainsworth then followed with a single of her own to make it 2-0 after four. CBC's offense exploded in the sixth, plating nine runs to make it 11-0 after 5.5 innings. The scoring started with another West single to make it 3-0 followed by another RBI single by Ainsworth. Madalyn Tubbs followed with a sac fly to make it 5-0 before a Taviah Bradley two-run double made it 7-0. Truelove then made it 8-0 with a single before Kinley Johnson capped the scoring with her 11th home run of the season, a three-run blast. Stephens lone run came in the sixth off Alex Jeter, who earned her 11th win of the season, throwing a complete game, allowing eight hits and one run with three strikeouts.

GAME TWO – STEPHENS 8, CBC 7

The Mustangs jumped ahead in game two with three runs in the third on another sac fly from Tubbs and a two-run single by Truelove. Stephens took the lead in the bottom of the third and extended the deficit to 6-3 in the fifth. Dakota Hobson would double home a run in the sixth to make it 6-4 before the deficit increased to 8-4 in the sixth. Abi West launched a three-run home run in the seventh to make it 8-7, her fifth of the season. CBC would have a chance to take the lead, but a popout ended the game.
