
2024 Spring Sports Recap

Conway, Ark. – The awards season wrapped up last week so it is time for the 2024 spring sports recap for the Central Baptist College Mustangs. Women's golf was the first team to complete their season, followed by men's golf, outdoor track & field, softball and baseball.
Women's golf posted a historic second place finish in the AMC Championship, finishing as one of two teams under 700 total with a 696. Alyssa Hagewood was a first team all-conference selection with Abby Kirby earning a second team nod and Laney Crutchfield earned an honorable mention selection. Hagewood, Kirby, Crutchfield and Thaylia Ramirez were all named to the All-Academic Team and all four also earned NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete selections as well.
Men's golf also finished second in the AMC Championship as one of two teams to eclipse a 900 with a score of 889. Leopold Maes, Jakub Slapal and Emmanuel LaBeur all posted top 10's individually with Slapal and Kitsakon Jairak earned second team honors with Maes and LaBeur both earning honorable mention nods. Slapal, LaBeur and Preston Nestorenko all earned All-Academic honors with Slapal additionally earning NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete honors.
Outdoor track & field season wrapped up on May 2 with the Mustangs finishing eighth in the conference. Josh Brown earned an individual championship in the 110-meter hurdles while also earning All-Academic team and NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete honors and Evan East also grabbed AMC All-Academic team honors. On the women's side, Lindsey Risner and Bay Davis earned Academic All-Conference honors.
Softball season wrapped up on May 2 with the Mustangs making the AMC semifinals for the second straight season. Lauren Anderson and Jordyn Frederic earned first team honors with Madeline Bruce, Alex Jeter, Kinley Johnson and Abi West earning second team honors and Kori Truelove and Hannah Work earning third team selections. Anderson and West were also selected to the Gold Glove team with West and Work also earning selection to the All-Tournament team. Anderson and West earned Academic All-America honors from College Sports Communicators with 11 players earning NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete honors and 29 players earning AMC All-Academic Team selections.
Baseball season wrapped up on May 3 with a runner-up finish in the AMC Tournament. Cade McBride earned Dual Position Player of the Year and Newcomer Player of the Year honors with Dylan Parton earning Freshman Pitcher of the Year honors as well. Gram Middleton, Austin Teal and Ruben Hernandez earned first-team all-conference honors with Austin LeJeune, Danilo Taborda and Ryan Dauphinee earning second-team all-conference selections. Luke McBride earned a gold glove for the second straight season with McBride, Middleton and Chett McDaniel earning All-Tournament team honors. Hernandez and Teal also earned CSC Academic All-America honors with Teal, Cade McBride, Middleton and Jacori Hicks earning All-Arkansas Team honors from Natural State Baseball and Dr. Aaron Brister earned Coach of the Year from Natural State Baseball. Additionally, 18 players earned All-Academic team honors from the conference.
