
Baseball Falls In Finale At Hannibal-LaGrange

Hannibal, Mo. – After splitting the first two games of their American Midwest Conference series, Central Baptist College baseball was back at Nichols Field today against the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans looking to take the series. CBC (16-21, 4-8 AMC) led the whole way until the ninth inning, when HLGU (3-23, 2-10 AMC) tied the game before sending the Mustangs home with a 10-9 defeat.
Gabe Walker got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI single to make it 1-0 and Kyle Bass added a solo home run, his first of the season, to make it 2-0 in the second. The lead was cut in half in the fourth before Austin Teal brought in a run with a groundout to make it 3-1 in the fifth. HLGU added a run in the bottom of the fifth and Ruben Hernandez drove in a run with a groundout in the sixth to make it 4-2. Teal extended the lead to 6-2 in the seventh with a two-run single and HLGU made it 6-3 in the bottom half. Eighth inning sac flies by Luke McBride and Nick Aide made it 8-3 before HLGU made it 8-6 in the bottom half. A.J. Serrano's seventh sac fly of the season made it 9-6 in the ninth before Hannibal homered to tie the game in the bottom half then walked off the game with a double in the 10th.
CBC returns to American Midwest Conference play next Friday, the 14th, when they welcome Columbia to Arkansas. All three games of the series will be played at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock and first pitch on Friday is scheduled for noon.
