Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Shreveport, La. – Throwing the first pitch on the 2025 season today, Central Baptist College baseball took on the #4 Pilots of LSU-Shreveport today at Pilots Field. CBC (0-1) went ahead early, but couldn't hold the LSU-S (1-0) offense, dropping the season opener 8-5.

CBC scored two runs in the first inning on an error off the bat of Chett McDaniel to go ahead 2-0 after the first half inning. The Pilots would push four runs across the plate in the second to make it 4-2 after two innings before the Mustangs made it 4-3 in the third on a strikeout and a wild pitch. The Pilots again pushed four across the plate, this time in the fourth inning to make it 8-3 before Jaxon Kirkhuff knocked in the first RBIs of the season for the Mustangs in the fifth on a two-run single to right field to wrap up the scoring for the game. Josh Albat was the starter and lost, striking out six and allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits in three innings. Jackson Pope struck out five in three relief innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and Kirkhuff threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out three.

The Mustangs finish the series tomorrow beginning at noon when they take on the #17 Indiana Southeast Grenadiers at Pilot Field.
