North Little Rock, Ark. – Following a split in the first two games of their American Midwest Conference series against the Columbia Cougars, Central Baptist College baseball looked to win both games today and capture the series from CC. CBC (8-10, 6-2 AMC) earned the series split, winning game one 4-3 in walk off fashion before falling 8-6 in game two.
GAME ONE – CBC 4, COLUMBIA 3
Neither team scored until the fourth inning when Brayden Mayencourt gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead with his first blast of the season. Two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth gave the Cougars a 3-1 lead but the lead was short lived as Ryan Dauphinee hit a two-run home run, his third of the season to tie the game at 3-3. After seeing the first two batters of the seventh inning retired, Jason Kirkhuff singled and moved to second on an error. Following Cameron Harden coming in to run for Kirkhuff, Chett McDaniel laced a single up the middle to score the winner and give CBC their second walk off win in as many days. Josh Albat started and did not factor in the decision, allowing two runs on four hits with three Ks in five innings. Ryan Meyer picked up his second win, going two innings and allowing a run on two hits.
GAME TWO – COLUMBIA 8, CBC 6
The Mustangs went ahead early in game two as Aaron Prince drove in a run with a single to make it 1-0 in the first. Columbia would score twice in the second and once in the third to take a 3-1 lead before CBC came right back to grab a 4-3 lead when an error brought home two in the third and another error scored a run in the fourth. The Cougars retook the lead with three in the fifth but the Mustangs were able to respond again, getting an RBI groundout from Julian Rodriguez in the fifth and a balk to tie the game at six in the sixth. Columbia would push two across in the seventh to wrap up the scoring.
