#MustangsWin! Baseball Finishes Season Sweep of Champion Christian in Odd Home Game!

            Hot Springs, Ark. – Playing a home game on the opponents' home field, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Champion Christian Tigers today at Majestic Park. CBC (12-11) scored four in the fourth and two in the sixth using 10 pitchers to vanquish CC (5-11) 6-1.

            Rhett James started on the mound and was followed by Dominic Smith, Eric de Jesus, Julio Escobar, Tucker Koester, Logan McGuire, Landon Hitchcock, Cole Garcia, Brennan Duhe and Jackson Pope. George Astacio had a hit and two RBIs while Brayden Mayencourt extended his hitting streak to nine straight and Garrett Fitts had a sac fly.

GAME SUMMARY

            The game remained scoreless through 3.5 innings before CBC broke through in the fourth. Mayencourt brought in the first two runs with a single and Astacio followed with a fielder's choice and an error to make it 4-0 after four. Champion added a run in the top of the sixth before CBC added some insurance in the bottom half thanks to Fitts' sac fly and Astacio's RBI single. Escobar picked up the win, striking out two while allowing just a walk and a hit in a scoreless fourth inning.

UP NEXT

            CBC returns to American Midwest Conference play on Friday with a doubleheader against Crowley's Ridge. First pitch from Burns Park is scheduled for noon.
