Baseball Splits First Doubleheader with Crowley's Ridge

            North Little Rock, Ark. – Opening up another American Midwest Conference home series today, Central Baptist College baseball hosted the Pioneers of Crowley's Ridge College this afternoon at Burns Park. CBC (13-12, 10-4 AMC) split the doubleheader with CRC (4-20, 4-10 AMC), dropping game one 6-4 before shutting out the Pioneers 7-0 in game two.

GAME ONE – CROWLEY'S RIDGE 6, CBC 4

            The Mustangs jumped ahead in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Brayden Mayencourt. Following a 33-minute lightning delay preceding the top of the third, CRC put up four runs to take a 4-1 lead. Brennan Duhe brought in a run in the fourth with a groundout before CRC returned the deficit to three in the fifth. Ryan Dauphinee's fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the fifth made it 5-3 before CRC returned the deficit to three in the sixth. An interference call scored Garrett Fitts in the sixth brought the score to its final margin.

GAME TWO – CBC 7, CRC 0

            Dauphinee started the scoring for the Mustangs in game two with a double that made it 1-0. Chett McDaniel's first home run of the season in the third inning made it 2-0 before CBC blew the game open with three in the fifth thanks to a sac fly by George Astacio, a Mayencourt double and a single by Aaron Prince. The final two runs scored in the sixth inning on a two-run dinger by Astacio, his first of the season. Jaxon Kirkhuff picked up his second win of the season, throwing a complete game seven-hitter, walking just one while striking out nine.
