Bio
Duffy Guyton is in his seventh season as the pitching coach for CBC in 2024. His staffs have improved each season and he coached and developed the school's first Major League Baseball Draft pick.
2024 saw the Mustangs staff earn 38 wins in 397 innings with 376 strikeouts, a WHIP of 1.46 and just 155 walks, a record low for his pitching staff as the staff held batters to a .281 average. Two pitchers earned All-Conference honors as Gram Middleton was named to the first team from the AMC and Austin LeJeune was named to the second team with Middleton also earning a nod to the All-Tournament Team.
In 2023 Guyton guided the staff to 25 wins and 358 strikeouts in 398 innings with a WHIP of 1.62 and an opponent batting average of .284. Austin LeJeune also earned a selection to the AMC All-Tournament team.
His 2022 staff won 27 games and posted 375 strikeouts in 399 and 2/3 innings, walking 228 batters during the season. Garon Johnson earned second team honors from the AMC for his performance during the season.
In 2021, CBC's pitchers won 24 games and posted 341 strikeouts in 329 and 1/3 innings, walking just 193 batters. Andrew Killough was named the American Midwest Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year under Guyton's tutelage and earned a spot in the Alaska Baseball League, a collegiate wood bat league, pitching for the Glacier Pilots.
Guyton's 2020 staff posted 21 wins in 192 and 2/3 innings, striking out 220 batters and walking just 80 while allowing opponents to hit just .252 against them. Two pitchers, Garon Johnson and Will Hodges, averaged over 10 strikeouts per nine innings on the season.
The 2019 Mustangs pitching staff won 27 games in 415 innings with 381 strikeouts. Justin Vincent pitched to a 2.57 ERA under Guyton's tutelage, including a one-hit, 14-strikeout shutout.
The 2018 pitching staff, Guyton's first staff, won 30 games and posted an ERA of 4.61 in 448 and 2/3 innings, striking out 560 batters against just 229 walks and holding opponents to a .248 batting average. Ben Madison, who was drafted in the ninth round by the San Francisco Giants in the MLB draft, led the NAIA in strikeouts with 172 and posted a 2.70 ERA and an opponents' batting average of .176 en route to American Midwest Conference co-pitcher of the year honors, an AMC first-selection and NCCAA Central Region Pitcher of the Year honors.
Before coming to CBC, Guyton was employed at the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (MABTS) in Cordova, TN for 17 years. While at MABTS, Guyton served in various roles, most recently as the Chief Development Officer, Dean of Admissions, and the newly organized position as Athletic Director. Guyton has also served as the bi-vocational pastor at Shelby Forest Baptist Church in Millington, TN. Coach Guyton also has 18 years of coaching experience in baseball at the competitive travel ball, high school, summer collegiate league, and NAIA levels. His coaching experience began at Dallas Baptist, where he was the pitching coach and lead recruiter for four seasons, where he recruited three players that went on to play Major League Baseball (Scott Mullen, Brandon Harper and Jason LaRue). While at DBU, he was also an associate scout for the Kansas City Royals and the head coach of the Dallas Indians Southwest Collegiate Baseball League squad for one season. After a break from coaching, Guyton re-entered that foray by becoming a head coach and assistant coach at the Memphis Homeschool Association Baseball Organization.

- In 1991, Pitcher in Rookie Season in Peoria, AZ.
- In 1992, Spring Training in St. Petersburg, FL.
- Opening Day starting pitcher for the Johnson City Cardinals.
Assistant Baseball Coach for Dallas Baptist University
- Served as lead recruiter & pitching coach for 4 ½ years.
- Coached in 4 NAIA regional championships & 1 NAIA World Series.
- Coached & recruited future Major Leaguers: Scott Mullen of the Kansas City Royals, Brandon Harper of the Washington Nationals & Jason LaRue of the St. Louis Cardinals.
- 10 pitchers coached signed professional baseball contracts in 4 ½ years.

1995 Head Coach of Dallas Indians with the Southwest Collegiate Baseball League
- Head coach in the summer colligate baseball wood bat league.
- Regular Season Champions with best record (only lost 2 games).
- Coached players from the DFW area who wanted to stay in the DFW area in the summer.
- Coached players from several DI institutions across the nation.
2007 – 2015 Coached as a head coach & assistant coach in the Memphis Homeschool Association Baseball Organization.
- Co-started a 12U team to develop higher-level baseball skills integrated with Christian values.
- 6 players have signed with college programs with 1 being drafted and signing with an MLB affiliated club.
In 2014, played in national championship game in the Homeschool Baseball World Series held in Auburndale, FL.
Guyton, a native of West Monroe, La., earned his Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Dallas Baptist in 1993 and earned his Masters of Education in higher education from DBU in 1997. He also earned his Masters' of Divinity from MABTS in 2001. He is married to Dawn and the couple has four sons, Caleb, a 2017 CBC graduate, Ryan, a 2020 CBC graduate, and twins Matthew and Andrew, who both graduated from CBC in 2021. He is also a grandfather with three grandchildren.
