CBC Selected As Five Seed In Naismith Bracket

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Kansas City, Mo. - #15 Central Baptist College men's basketball made history last night when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics made their selections for the 64-team field of the NAIA Men's Basketball Tournament. For the first time in program history, CBC earned an at large bid to the NAIA tournament.

"We are proud to be selected for the NAIA National Tournament once again," said head coach Sam Kohnke. "This is a tremendous opportunity, and we are extremely excited and grateful to compete against some of the best teams in the country for a National Championship. Our focus is on taking it one game at a time, one play at a time, as we embrace the challenge ahead."

The selection was the sixth overall for the Mustangs, who earned a five seed in the Naismith Bracket. The seeding is the highest ever for the Mustangs dating back to even the old format. CBC was placed in Langston, Okla., with the four-seed Langston, the 13-seed Saint Mary's and their opponents, the 12-seed William Carey.

The Mustangs and Crusaders will tipoff on Friday at 3 p.m., at Gayles Field House in Langston. If CBC wins in the first round, they would move on to Saturday's regional final.
