
CBC's Season Ends In Second Round

Langston, Okla. – Looking to take their second straight trip to Kansas City and the round of 16, #15 Central Baptist College men's basketball took on #22 Langston tonight at C.F. Gayles Field House in the NAIA Basketball Tournament Second Round Presented by Ballogy. #15 CBC (27-6) trailed by two at halftime, forced overtime, but ultimately saw their season come to an end at Langston (26-7) by a score of 81-76.
Wade Williams led the way for CBC with 23 points while Jonas Carlisle added 12, Sage Borbon contributed with 11 and Brian Alexander had 10 off the bench. CBC won the turnover battle 7-11, but couldn't keep Langston off the glass and got beat by seven on second chance points.
GAME FLOW
Langston got out of the gate quickly, scoring the first five points of the game. The Mustangs would trail by as many as 11 in the first half before finally tying the game at 39 courtesy of Borbon with 1:49 to go before halftime. Langston would get a layup with just under a minute to play and CBC missed their only chance to tie before the end of the half, trailing at the break for just the fifth time this season.
Langston again scored the first five points of the second half to stretch the deficit, but the Mustangs never went away, tying the game again at 66 on a Borbon free throw with 9:04 to go before finally taking the lead thanks to Williams at 68-66 with eight minutes to play. Langston immediately responded to tie the game and neither team would score again until another Williams bucket made it 70-68 with 5:54 to go. The Lions would tie the score at 70 with 4:16 left before Alexander split a pair of free throws to give CBC the lead against at 71-70 with 3:12 to go. A pair of free throws by Langston gave them the lead again before Carlisle canned a three on the next possession to make it 74-72 Mustangs with 2:16 to play. Neither team made a basket over the final 2:16, but the Lions went 2-4 at the free throw line to send the game into overtime.
In the extra five minutes, neither team score for three minutes until the Lions hit a three with two minute to go to put CBC down 77-74. A couple more missed shots by both teams saw the score remain that way until Carlisle hit a pair of free throws with 28 seconds left for CBC's only points of the extra period. The Lions would score a field goal and make a pair of free throws to end CBC's season two rounds short of where it ended last year.

- CBC finishes with 27 wins, second most in a season in program history
- The Mustangs set three new single-season program records: Most field goals made in a season (1,050), most assists in a season (513), and highest points per game average (85.3) breaking the previous records of 1,020 set in 2016-17, 506 set in 2006-07 and 84.6 set in 2004-05.
- CBC also finished with 305 made three-point field goals, third most in a season, a 71.2 free throw percentage, second best in a season, 400 offensive rebounds, fourth most in a season, 905 defensive rebounds, fifth most in a season, 1,305 total rebounds, four most in a season, 156 blocked shots, second most in a season, and 260 steals, 10th most in a season while scoring 2,814 points, the third highest total in a season ever
- Williams also collected 10 rebounds for his first career double-double
