
Barnes Makes History at AMC Track and Field Championship

Edwardsville, Ill. – Competing for the final time this season, Central Baptist College Track and Field competed yesterday and today at the American Midwest Conference Championships. The highlight of the championship was Solomon Barnes making history for CBC in the triple jump.
Barnes recorded a distance of 13.47 meters on his fifth attempt, the second longest of his career. His jump was good enough to win the championship by .03 meters to make history and become the first Mustang individual champion in a field event ever.
The rest of the events that CBC athletes competed in were:
- Evan East, who ran an 11.85 100-meter dash
- East, who ran a 24.36 in the 200-meter dash
- Barnes, who finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.51 meters
- Josh Brown, who finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.13 seconds
- Kortney Embry, who finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.62 seconds
- Mackenzie Milligan, who finished the 800-meter race for the women's team with a personal record time of 2:56.88 minutes
- Bay Davis, who finished the 800-meter race for the women's team in a time of 3:12.68
- Lindsey Risner, who finished the 800-meter race for the women's team in a time of 3:14.80
- Brown, who finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.78
- Barnes, who finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.53
- Embry, who finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.87
- Chris Palmer ran the 5000-meter race and finished with a time of 17:41.02
- The men's team placed seventh with total of 33 points
