Mustangs Drop Two At Generals Showdown

            Alexandria, La. – Playing in Louisiana for the second straight weekend, Central Baptist College softball opened the Generals Showdown today with a pair of games against #14 William Carey and #21 LSU-Alexandria. CBC (2-4) dropped both contests, losing 4-2 to WCU (2-0) and 10-2 to LSU-A (5-1).

GAME ONE - #14 WILLIAM CAREY 4, CBC 2

            The Crusaders jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning with a sacrifice fly to lead 1-0 after one. WCU added three more in the third to make it 4-0 before CBC got back-to-back home runs in the sixth from Kinley Johnson and Abi West for all of their scoring. Alex Jeter went the distance for the Mustangs, allowing 10 hits and four runs with two strikeouts.

GAME TWO - #21 LSU-ALEXANDRIA 10, CBC 2 (SIX INNINGS)

            The Generals scored four runs in the first to put CBC down 4-0 early. Another run in the second made it 5-0 and it stayed that way until the fifth when Taylyn Shuffield doubled in two runs to cut the deficit to 5-2. LSU-A would put an end to the contest shortly after, scoring two in the fifth and three in the sixth to finish the run rule win. Melanie Phillips started and got the loss, throwing four innings and allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits with a pair of walks. Isabella Sawyers made her season debut in the final inning and a third, allowing five runs on six hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout.

UP NEXT

            CBC wraps up the Generals Showdown tomorrow with games against Louisiana Christian and the United States Sports Academy. First pitch against LCU is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the second game to follow right after.
