Mustangs Split With Rams

            Fort Worth, Texas – Looking to snap a recent slide, Central Baptist College softball was at Sycamore Park this afternoon for a doubleheader against the Rams of Texas Wesleyan University. CBC (3-9) split the day, dropping game one to TWU (1-5) 9-2 before winning game two 13-1 in five innings.

GAME ONE – TEXAS WESLEYAN 9, CBC 2

            The Mustangs jumped on the board first, plating two in the fourth inning on Kinley Johnson's fifth home run of the season and an RBI double by Taviah Bradley. The Rams then tied the game in the fifth before scoring seven runs in the sixth to provide the final margin. Alex Jeter started while Hailey Marange and Kayla O'Kelley also saw time in the circle.

GAME TWO – CBC 13, TEXAS WESLEYAN 1 (FIVE INNINGS)

            The offense exploded in game two, pounding out 14 hits and 13 runs, with every starter getting at least one hit. CBC scored four in the first on a single by Kori Truelove and a three-run home run by Johnson, her sixth of the season. Three more runs would score in the third on a solo home run by Elizabeth Stoufer, her first, a sac fly by Madalyn Tubbs and an RBI single by Bradley. The final six runs scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Baylie Ainsworth, a fielder's choice off the bat of Tubbs, a single by Johnson, a wild pitch and a two-run double by Abi West. The lone run that starter Melanie Phillips allowed came in the fourth. Phillips threw a complete game for win number two, allowing five hits and one run with one strikeout.

UP NEXT

            CBC wraps up their Texas road trip tomorrow when they take on the Nelson University Lions. First pitch from Waxahachie is scheduled for noon.
