#MustangsWin! Softball Sweeps Harris-Stowe To Gain Sole Possession of First Place in the AMC!

            Conway, Ark. – Looking to stay perfect in the American Midwest Conference, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State today for a doubleheader at City of Colleges Park. CBC (19-15, 8-0 AMC) took care of business, sweeping HSSU (1-23, 0-10 AMC) 11-0 and 13-0 in five innings both times.

GAME ONE – CBC 11, HSSU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

            Neither team scored in the first inning. CBC finally cracked the scoreboard in the second on a groundout by Taylyn Shuffield, a two-run double by Taviah Bradley and a single by Corina Garcia to make it 4-0 after two. Baylie Ainsworth made it 6-0 in the third with a two-run triple and the final five runs scored in the fourth via an error, a single by Kori Truelove, a two-run single by Abi West and another error. Alex Jeter started and got the win, striking out four in three hitless innings. Kayla O'Kelley finished the game with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out two.

GAME TWO – CBC 13, HSSU 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

            Anna Marie Sternisha started the scoring in game two with a double to left center to make it 1-0 and Kaylee Harp added a sac fly to give CBC a 2-0 lead in the first. The Mustangs would plate nine in the third on a two-run double by Eden East, a hit by pitch, a single by Garcia, a two-run double by Ryleigh Keele, a two-run single by Sternisha and a double by Harp to make it 11-0. The final two runs scored in the fourth on a single by Sternisha, giving her 5 RBIs on the day. Hailey Marange, Isabella Sawyers and Olivia Pickard combined on a three hit shutout with Marange striking out three, Sawyers earning the win and striking out five and Pickard striking out one.

UP NEXT

            CBC is back on the road next Friday for a doubleheader against Hannibal-LaGrange. First pitch from Hannibal, Mo., is scheduled for 1 p.m.
