#MustangsWin! CBC Closes 2024 With Win Over Harris-Stowe State!

St. Louis, Mo. – Playing on the road for the final time in 2024, Central Baptist College women's basketball took on the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State this afternoon in an American Midwest Conference contest at the Emerson Performance Center. CBC (5-5, 3-3 AMC) led after every quarter, knocking off the Hornets (2-7, 1-5 AMC) 75-61.

            Balanced scoring was the name of the game for the Lady Mustangs, as five of the six players that played scored in double figures, paced by Raigan Head with 19 points. Aliya Grotjohn also had her first career double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Lydia York added 16, Tamara Christmas had 13 and Rhys Anderson scored 10. The Lady Mustangs dominated in every phase, outshooting HSSU 53 percent to 40 percent from the field, outrebounding the Hornets 41-28 and outscoring the Hornets 28-24 in the paint.

GAME FLOW

            Grotjohn and Christmas opened the scoring with a three and a two to make it 5-0 inside two minutes. The lead reached six on three occasions in the first quarter before CBC took a 16-14 lead into the second. HSSU would take their only lead of the game, 17-16, 2:14 into the quarter before a pair of Anderson free throws would put the Lady Mustangs back ahead for good. CBC led 36-33 at halftime, 56-45 after three quarters and scored the final four points of the game to make it 75-61.
