
Volleyball Falls to Philander Smith

Little Rock, Ark. – Having not played for a week, Central Baptist College volleyball was back on the floor tonight at Crawford Mims Gymnasium for their third and final matchup of the season against the Panthers of Philander Smith. CBC (2-7) couldn't muster much of an offense, falling in straight sets to PSC (8-3) by scores of 17-25, 26-28 and 14-25.
Madeline Freeman had a double-double again while Molly Murphy had another 30-plus assist match and Mallory Gossett led the team in digs. The match was all about hitting and blocking, as CBC hit .085 with one total block while PSC hit .229 with 10 total blocks.
MUSTANG NOTES
- Freeman had 13 kills and 13 digs for her sixth double-double of the season and her fourth in as many matches
- Murphy handed out 33 assists
- Gossett had 14 digs, the third time she has recorded double digits in digs this season
- The loss was the third in a row to PSC and the sixth in the last eight meetings
PANTHER NOTES
- Jordan Johnson had 11 kills and five blocks
- Essence Wren had 34 assists
- Lela Collier had 20 digs

CBC heads to Grambling, La., for a tri-match on Wednesday at Grambling State. The Mustangs will face fellow NAIA institution Tougaloo at 2 p.m. followed by a match with the home standing Tigers at 4 p.m.
