Mustangs Drop Season Series to Blue Mountain Christian

Erik Holth, CBC Sports Information Director

Conway, Ark. – Playing at home after playing the road last night, Central Baptist College volleyball hosted the Toppers of Blue Mountain Christian University on jersey night inside A. R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (5-7) got off to a fast start, but couldn't stop the potent BMCU (14-5) offense, falling in straight sets by scores of 21-25, 13-25 and 18-25.

Xiangelisse Velazquez led the way in kills with eight while both Madeline Freeman and Brooke Schmitz finished in double figures in assists with 17 and 13, respectively, and Kailee Walker was the only Mustang to eclipse double figures in digs with 16. CBC had 34 kills and hit .134 while BMCU had 45 kills and hit an otherworldly .264.

The Mustangs return home next Friday for an American Midwest Conference match against the Spartans of Missouri Baptist. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
