Texarkana, Texas – Playing their first true road doubleheader of the season, Central Baptist College softball took on the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana this afternoon at Hooks High School. CBC (2-8) lost both ends of the doubleheader to TAMUT (7-3) falling 10-2 in game one and 12-0 in game two.
GAME ONE – TAMUT 10, CBC 2 (FIVE INNINGS)
CBC got on the board first in the second inning, plating a run on a bunt single by Dakota Hobson to make it 1-0. The Eagles would take the lead in the third with a pair of runs before CBC tied it in the fourth on an RBI single by Abi West. Unfortunately, TAMUT would plate eight in the fifth to end the game before its scheduled distance. Alex Jeter was tagged for nine runs (seven earned) on 11 hits with a walk and a strikeout. Isabella Sawyers faced three batters, walking two and surrendering the final unearned run.
GAME TWO – TAMUT 12, CBC 0 (FIVE INNINGS)
Game two was all Eagles, as they scored all 12 runs in the first two innings with six in the first and six in the second. CBC had just two base runners all game, when Abi West got hit by a pitch in the second and moved to second later in the inning on the lone hit, a single by Taylyn Shuffield. Melanie Phillips, Kayla O'Kelley and Ryleigh Keele all made appearances in the circle, with Keele throwing the final two-and-one-third innings, allowing four hits and two walks with the lone strikeout of the game.
