#MustangsWin! CBC Sweeps Williams Baptist in Pair of Pitcher's Duals!

Conway, Ark. – Looking to get back to .500 on the season, Central Baptist College softball hosted the Williams Baptist University Eagles today in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader at City of Colleges Park. CBC (15-15, 4-0 AMC) got clutch hits late in both games to sweep WBU (17-8, 2-2 AMC) 2-1 and 3-1.

GAME ONE – CBC 2, WILLIAMS BAPTIST 1

Neither team scored until the sixth inning when WBU capitalized on back-to-back two out doubles to take a 1-0 lead. The bottom of the sixth started with a groundout for CBC followed by a walk to Taviah Bradley. Following another groundout, Elizabeth Stoufer launched her third home run of the season to give CBC a 2-1 lead. Alex Jeter would set the Eagles down in order in the seventh to secure her third win of the series. She threw a complete game, allowing just four hits with three strikeouts and that lone run.

GAME TWO – CBC 3, WILLIAMS BAPTIST 1

The Mustangs jumped up early in game two, scoring two runs on a wild pitch and a sac fly off the bat of Kori Truelove. The lead was cut in half in the third, but a single off the bat of Anna Marie Sternisha in the sixth provided an insurance run which was all that Isabella Sawyers needed. Sawyers threw a complete game three-hitter, allowing just one walk and one run while striking out three.
